Police Officer

Minimum Requirements:

  •        Must be at least 18 years of age and no older than 35 years of age;
  •        Must be a resident of New Jersey and a citizen of the United States;
  •        Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license;
  •        Must have at least one of the following: 
  1.        An associate’s degree or have earned 60 credits from an accredited college or university.

 

  1.        At least 24 months of active military service resulting in an honorable discharge.

 

  1.        Prior law enforcement experience within the State of New Jersey.
  •        Must be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently;
  •        Must be sound in body and of good health;
  •        Must be of good moral character and not convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude;
  •        Must be able to pass a medical examination, psychological examination and drug screening;
  •        A valid NJ PTC Certification, waiver eligible Class II Certification or current enrollment in a fulltime or Class II Police Academy is preferred.

Crossing Guards

We are currently accepting applications for the position of backup crossing guard for the upcoming school year. Backup crossing guards should be available to cover any of the crossing guard posts within the borough in the event of a regular crossing guard call-out. When school is in session, crossings take place Monday through Friday during the following times:

Crossing times for full school day (2 crossings)

  • 7:00am to 7:50am
  • 2:25pm to 3:15pm

Crossing times for half school day for all schools (2 crossings)

  • 7:00am to 7:50am
  • 11:50am to 12:40pm

Crossing times when dismissal times vary by school (3 crossings)

  • 7:00am to 7:50am
  • 11:50am to 12:40pm
  • 2:25pm to 3:15pm

Pay: Crossing guards are paid on an hourly basis with a minimum of 6 hours of pay
per day worked. The current rate for 2023 is $15.71 per hour.
